Americans are facing a retirement crisis. In fact, half of Black Americans, due to a system of inequities, don’t have enough savings to retire. So TIAA is on a mission to #RetireInequality.
We have been committed to providing access and financial education for students and employees of HBCUs and other institutions for 100 years.
We’re committed to helping HBCU students uncover career potential within their major with our Early Career Immersion Program.
TIAA proudly supports the bipartisan IGNITE HBCU Excellence Act, allowing universities to improve infrastructure.
Black Americans make up only 9% of the cyber workforce. So TIAA is helping HBCU students to get the job of their dreams with the
See Yourself In Cyber Program.
Let’s step further together.

Watch choreographer Sean Bankhead and director Daps talk about using the power of stepping to break through and tell a new story.
For over 100 years, TIAA has been committed to serving the higher education community. We chose to illustrate the 54% statistic through stepping because of its connection to our academic and cultural participants, its deep roots in the Black community, and the unity and strength this storytelling tradition has among historically Black Greek organizations, which have a legacy of pushing for awareness and change.
